Tarsius tarsier

Tarsius tarsier is specie of tarsiers from suborder of higher primates. It´s located mostly in Indonesia (mainly on islands Sulawesi, Buton, Muna and Kabaena) in the altitude from 1 100 to 1 500 m.a.s.l.

Adult male weighs 118-130 grams and adult female weighs 102-114 grams. The average height of individual is about 9-14 cm, a tail is 20-26 cm long. It mainly eat´s insect, sometimes also small vertebrates (rodents and reptiles). An average length of life is 10 years, but held in captivity can live up to 17 years. Some sources present, it is a mammal with the biggest eye in ratio with it´s body.

Tarsius tarsier is active mostly in night. It lives in small groups of 2-6 individuals.
